Mother Janet

I'm looking to get and idea of William and Janets year of birth.

I don't think there can be that many so if somebody can try and find them on either  or both census I'd really appreciate it.

Perhaps someone with access to Ancestry?

There are several Andrew Forrests born about 1837 in the 1851 census..but this is the only one I can see with parents William and Janet

This is probably the correct family as two of the brothers ages tie in.  I have James b1841 and John b1846.
McNneil St is new to me.
The address I have is Gilmour St in Hutchesontown (Gorbals) Glasgow in 1864 so the move to Glasgow before young Janet was born ties in too.
Maybe the 1861 cencus will confirm more.

Who was living at Gilmour St in 1864? Tried looking for the 1851 family in 1861 but cannot find the parents and the children seem to be scattered around.

On the marriage cert of Andrew Forrest bc1837 his usual residence is given as 16 Gilmour St.
I'm assuming Andrew still lived with parents at that point.
Please don't go to too much trouble.  The info you gave me gives me a better idea of Williams DOB which is what I wanted to try and trace his date of birth.

Hi,

On Andrews marriage...was his occupation a boiler maker? If so, in 1861 it looks like the above Andrew was living in Fife as a lodger. One side of my family were boiler makers and they seemed to move about alot for work..so it is possible this Andrew moved back to Glasgow before 1864.

The Janet in the above family seems to living with her elder sister who is married and they are still in Glasgow.

If you want the details just let me know

Andrew was indeed a boilermaker / journeyman on his marriage cert.
