Cummins and Calgary

I know they emigrated to Canada about 1909, they had a son called Daniel in the 1911 census born 1909.  They lived north of Calgary then.  James Cummings was in the N.W.M.P and joined the army in 1918.  His wife was Mary Ellen Rock who was called Nellie, she died after an operation on 23rd May 1918 and was buried in Calgary.  There was a service in St, Mary's in Calgary.  They may have had four children, two others might have been Mary Ellen born 1918 and Harry born 1914.  Mary Ellen Rock was my grandfather's sister.  I know all this but I can't find her descendants!  Any ideas anyone?

You could try writing or calling the cemetery to see if they can give you an idea on who the next of kin was that was listed. It may still be held by the family.

James Attestation papers show him signing up on May 1, 1918 just 3 weeks before Mary Ellen passed away.   The papers also show that he was discharged from the army on August 16, 1918 probably because of her death.

He gives his present address on the forms as R. N.W.M.P. Regina, Saskatchewan while her address is shown as Calgary.  As he had been living in Regina working as a Mountie maybe he moved his children there and returned there after his discharge.  We might need to look in Regina for their children.

Thank you for two excellent  suggestions.  I shall work on both of them.  I have so much information about James Cummins - I have his attestation papers and I even know how tall he was and where he lived in Calgary - I even lived in Calgary once long before I became infected with the Family Tree bug (durn!) and now I live so far away even though I am in the same country.  Just hope that one day some descendant of James Cummings gets the bug and starts lookin for me!!!

May I suggest that in the future when you are requesting help finding information on people that you include the fact that you have previous posted the same request on rootschat and include ALL information that has been found by rootschatters.

This not only eliminates duplicate searching being done but it gets people to "think outside the box" and possibly come up with a different approach to the search.  It appears you got far more information from your original post in October 2006 it's to bad you didn't learn anything new.
