Morgan Street dervives its name from Samuel Morgan, Alderman of Waterford Corporation, who was also a merchant and had premises in this street, he died in 1829. On the 3rd of march 1972, Denny's Bacon Factory closed after 152 years, with the loss of 240 jobs.

Hope you don;t mind if I jump in here?

If either of you comes across a Denis RYAN, butcher in Waterford (city? county?) I would be v grateful for info.  No idea of dates or anything, just that his son Patrick was born c 1876.

A very long shot!

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

That's very interesting - thank you!

I had been led to believe that Patrick's mother was still alive after he died in 1922, but that might be wrong, so I will def keep those details beside me.  sorry to highjack, but you just have to grab opportunities in this game!  :-[

Irish: I take it you have contacted local libraries etc?  There are some resources stickied at the top of the board.  Good luck with your project.

;)

Ooh hello you added some more!  Our Patrick died in Wales in January 1922, but I suppose there might have been cousins...
