I can't help you with the census results, I'm afraid, but did you know George, George and Catherine's son, was born 1855? Certificates that year are a wealth of information, including birthplaces of parents. Hopefully I'm not repeating what you already know (please forgive me if I am); just thought it could help towards your research. Here's a list of their children;

Catherine, born 20th June 1847
Mary, born 17th December 1848
John, born 10th June 1853
George, born 3rd May 1855
