Leon Stanley Reid
« on: Saturday 07 July 07 23:50 BST (UK) »
I have just received a copy of my mothers marriage certificate. On it the witness is given as Leon Stanley Reid. The registrar also wrote that name as the father of the bride, but this was crossed out and the correct name written. My mother was known as Reid when she married (both surnames are on the marriage register)and that is the 'mother's maiden name' on my birth certificate.
It would appear that he lived with my Grandmother for some time, although they never married and he was not with her when she died in 1943.
There is a Leon Stanley Reid born in Fulham Jun 1877, but I don't know if this was the same person as my mother says she thought he was Scottish. But it does seem a bit of a coincidence that my Grandmother's family were also from the London area.
Does Leon Stanley Reid ring a bell with anyone???
I would love some help to fill in the missing years in my mothers life 1924-1939 and would really appreciate anyone's help.
Cheers
