hi there

could anyone help please? 

Im looking for emily Knowles bn 1828 winscomb - on the 1871 - 1891 census she is shown as born winscomb (and her age is consistant) but I cant find anything on the IGI for this town.  I have no knowledge of the area, so could anyone point me in the right direction?

There is a family on the 1841 which might be her, can you post the full reference for the 71 so I can see who the other family members are if she is with them

John and Emily married in 1852 in Bedminster. So in 1841 & 1851 she should be listed as Emily Knowles.

Thanks for posting that very helpful information   , it appears Emily was illegitimate, mother Sarah down as a single women, so that confirms its not the family that I found on the 1841 .

I think I could be onto something  Sarah is given as her mother,I cound not see a marriage for her on those Wincombe marrage records.

This is the family that I found in 1841 living in Yatton, which is quite close to Winscomb.

As no relationships are given, looking at the ages it would make Phebe about 49 when she had Emily and 58 for Mary, I think that pushing things, so maybe as Sarah was unmarried perhaps these are Emily grandparents 

I notice from the 71 census that the eldest child is a son James Knowles Summerall, possibly named after her grandfather.

thanks everyone for all the hard work.  So..

who are charles and mary's parents?  Like Emily, they are slightly too young to be Phebe's children.  i cant find any of them in 1851.  Emily did marry into the Summerells in 1852, so I can track her from then.

any ideas?

I could not find any of the Knowle's in 1851 its probably safe to assume that James and Pheobe are deceased but where are the rest
