Hi and hello to you i am brand new to this site and was wondering if you could help me i am looking for a john Gordon born abt 1834 in Dublin, i have him moved to Shropshire when he was about 19, where he married a Margaret Behan, she was also born in Dublin but i cant find either of them to get birth certs,Margaret died by 1881 and her mother Ann Behan was living with the Gordon family, i have found Ann Behan and stephen Behan (her husband i think) also in Shropshire Wolverhampton but the name was spelled behaw, and john Gordon's name was spelt jhn gor-on? any help would be greatly received

Irish civil registration of births didn't start until 1864 so for persons born earlier you need to search church records, if they still exist. Unfortunately there are many churches in and around Dublin.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

That's the trouble- there are so many churches in Dublin that it's difficult to start a search without even having any idea of where a family might have lived. Sometimes an ancestor can be found in somewhere like a trade directory that can at least narrow down the search. Generally it is easier to find a family if they lived outside the citities if you are able to discover the Parish and Townland or they have a very uncommon surname.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
