Ruth Higginson

My father never knew his mother as she died when he was three months old. He knows very little about her and I am trying to research her family for him. Her father (James Higginson) was a blast furnace manager and they lived in Brookvale Cottage in Denby in 1901. She was a teacher in a Board School according to the census, but I do not know which one. Does anyone have any knowledge of Board schools in the area? I know the theory about the history of education, but I would like to be specific to my unknown grandma. She died in 1920. Does anyone have any knowledge of the family?
