Hi I am looking for John Ousby Whitfield in the 1901 census. He was born in 1872 in Workington and married ? Annie. I know he had a daughter but not until 1910. what I am looking for is any other children they may have had. Many thanks Cass

so with that in mind this is the most likely 1901 census for him

His birth registration refutes the "fact" that he was born in Workington, as that was in Cockermouth Reg Dist.  Harrington was part of Whitehaven Reg Dist.

These could be children of theirs (if they moved to Workington)

Well that certainly does seem to make the census entry more likely, as he is born in Harrington.

So: born - Harrington, lived with parents - Workington, Married - likely Workington but at least the Cockermouth reg district, and kids in the Cockermouth Reg district

Many thanks to you all. It certainly appears to be the correct family. They had another child that I know of - Margaret born in 1910 who was killed in a road accident aged 18. I will hopefully be able to find marriages for these other 2 girls and hopefully decendants. Cass

There are definite, possible marriage registrations for both of the girls in Cockermouth, so your search for them should not be in vain.

FreeBMD runs out at (about ) 1914 - that's how I found those two births - there may have been later ones too.  Eventually, I suppose, FreeBMD will also have their marriages but that will be some time in the future.
