Marriage Lookup - YOUNG/CRANE
« on: Friday 20 July 07 11:09 BST (UK) »
I'm hoping someone can help me to find a marriage.

I have my relative Richard YOUNG marrying Elizabeth CRANE in 1820 in Codicote. She dies in 1823 and on the 1841 census he is then living with Catherine YOUNG nee LAWRANCE (Elizabeth's Auntie) & her elderly parents.

Richard dies in 1849 & on the 51 census she is Catherine YOUNG living back with her sister as a nurse. She dies as YOUNG so I've no reason to believe they didn't marry except for the family connection. (marrying you nieces husband!!)

So far I've been able to find no marriage which I would assume would be in the Codicote area.

Can anyone help at all?

Have looked at the census for 1841/1851 for Catherine and agree with you that she is with John and Ann Lawrence in 1841 but a double line under her name which normally indicates the end of that household. Richard and Ann Young follow and again under Ann double lines. As there is no marriage for Catherine in the IGI batch nos for Codicote but is one for Richard to Elizabeth I doubt if Catherine did marry Richard. If you have the death certs then maybe that would indicate with the name of informant. I will have a look next week at Codicote P/R......think it's in library.
