is Thomas Richard Bentley b. 1878 Bradford my relation?
« on: Saturday 21 July 07 22:40 BST (UK) »
Does Bradford come under this area??

I have Ellen bentley b. Q 1878 bradford 9b 16, in my tree

registered at the same time were

George Arthur Bentley & Thomas Richard Bentley

I have found Ellen (my relation) and George Arthur (hopefully related) in 1881 but cannot find Thomas Richard.

Ellens parents were Thomas Bentley & Sarah Tunstall
George Arthurs parents were Charles and Elizabeth Ann
(i am hoping here that Thomas and Charles were brothers although it is looking unlikely)

Ellen already had a brother called Thomas (b.1875) who was still very much alive and kicking in 1881 so i don't think the Thomas Richard Bentley is her brother, and he is not listed with the family in 1881 in any case nor is he living with George Arthurs family.

I have found a marriage in Keighly 1905 (is this the same one??) and a death for a Thomas Richard Bentley in 1907, but the death is in Mile End Old Town and is also 7 years out age wise

can any one find him and help me determine if he is a relation of mine

Many Thanks

Toni

Hi Toni,

Just for info:   Bradford and Keighley are in the West Riding of Yorkshire and Mile End Old Town is in London.

If you are unable to find Thomas in 1881 census; have you looked for him in 1891?

A copy of his birth certificate will identify his parents.

Hi Toni,

Found this possibility on 1881 census:

Tom Bentley aged abt 4 (born Bradford) with parents John and Pamelia, and other family, at 50 Butler Street, Bradford.

Thanks for the clarification re areas, i knew Mile End Old Town was in London, and Bradford and Keighly were Yorks. but wasnt sure if they were west or east

I can see now that neither Thomas Richard or George Arthur are directly related to me.

I am now checking to see if My Ellens father had brothers called John and Charles to se fi they were cousins

Thanks
