Death Records - George Insley
« on: Monday 23 July 07 18:29 BST (UK) »
I am searching for details of the death of George Insley. He was born in March 31 1855 in Birmingham and must have moved to Grimsby prior to 1880. In that year he married Annie Greaves (November 28 1880). In 1909 he is quoted on his daughter's marriage certificate as Fish Buyer. When two of his daughters emigrated to USA in 1920, next of kin was quoted as George at 58 Hildyard Street, Grimsby

Can anyone help please.

thanks

John Insley

Scartho Road cemetery in Grimsby has only one INSLEY monumental inscription:

Elam INSLEY, died 13 April 1928 age 68 and his wife Sarah Ann died 30 December 1943 age 82.

An uncommon surname, moreso in Lincs.

Apart from those already given, all I can find in Lincs

Q3 1934
George INSLEY
N Kesteven 7a 422 age 75 (the area south of Lincoln - see http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/north%20kesteven.html

September 1935
Caroline B INSLEY
Grimsby 7a 618 age 52

Also 1938 Scunthorpe, Sylvia aged 13

Possible marriage
Marriages Jun 1904
Insley    George William        Grimsby    7a   1595
James    Joseph         Grimsby    7a   1595
Mason    Emma         Grimsby    7a   1595
Oates    Caroline Beatrice         Grimsby    7a   1595

I would have thought this chap was somehow involved
Births Dec 1881
Insley    George William         Caistor    7a   619

He seems to have been the son of the chap born in Birmingham in 1855.  I note that George from Birmingham appears on 1881-1901 censuses at least two years younger than he should have been (23, 33, 42).

I have checked 1920-41 ... only 2 quarters were missing for that period.
Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened.

Thanks Geoff,

I think that the George Insley you found you died 1934 N Kesteven must be the one. Although George was born in 1855 (and that is confirmd by the 1861 census where he is shown as 6 years old), by 1881 census he "lost" 3 years and although he was 26 he is shown as 23.

Thanks again

John
