Deb

I have a list of Devon baptisms supplied by the Devon FHS and Elizabeth is on that list with that date and from Awliscombe with parents Robert and Mary.

Now here's a thought. There is also a James mentioned with parents of Robert and Mary, baptised 25th Jun 1837 in Awliscombe. He's not in the 1851 Census so presume he died. Also a Betsy born 19th Apr 1835 also not in the 1851 Census. That could put the marriage back before 1835 when Mary would only have been 18.

Hi Stewart

Okay .... we have Robert Connett bc 1811 = Mary ?? b c 1817 Awliscombe .....

We don't know Mary's maiden name and can't find a marriage anywhere for them ... I know it may cost a little but this couple had lots of children...as you said, after the 1851 census , they stayed in the area and had lots more children ...

This is my idea ... which of their children has the most UNUSUAL name out of them all ... then lets search for that child's birth registration ... we will find the vol and page # and then you HAVE to order the cert to find Mary's maiden name ...

You have already listed chidren they had up until the 1851 census ... last child ...Ann Connett , 5 months, awliscombe ...can you just finish off the list after that .....

we have to be able to find her maiden name by the beirth cert of at least ONE of her children ...

Hi Deb

Yes I agree that getting a birth certificate might help and in fact I'm waiting for William Connett of c1842 to be delivered.

My next bet is Charles Connett of c1848. Unfortunately no unusual christian names.

I'll see what arrives.

Stewart
