My wife's father had some old letters in his attic. We have just been looking at them. They are correspondence between Jack Whitfield and his wife. He was from Warrington, Lancashire and imprisoned at some time during the war in Stalag 357. We would like to know more about this stalag.

    Thanks for the interesting link. It seems the Stalag 357 was a famous POW camp at Oerbke, near Fallingbostel. This was about half way between Bremen and Hannover, Germany. It might be worth following up, Thanks again for the link.

Hi my best mate is a whitfield and they are from warrington, her dad is called robert and had a sister named elizabeth betty. dont know if this has any relevanve. jo

Thanks for that, there was a large amount of Whitfield's in the town, so could be link there somewhere! There is still a lot of them today. Only got to look in Warrington Phone Book! lol
