WW1 Uniform
« on: Monday 06 August 07 16:40 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help me to identify the uniform here?  Believed to be William (John) Barnes who died 1916/1917, but I cannot get further than this in identifying him. Many thanks for any help.

Not being an expert,  but it looks like the letters RGA on his left shoulder flash.
Seems to be a happy lad!!.  I'm sure other rootschatters will be of more help,
but I am interested a) because he is wearing a bandolier and b) I'm intrigued by the lanyard!!

Good hunting!

hi and welcome to rootschat, have you tried the
 commonwealth war graves website?
I think you will be better not to use the middle name john.
hope this helps.

Thanks.  Have tried CWG site, but it is not helpful at this stage as I do not know his age, his place of birth, regiment or rank!

If above is your soldier below is the link to more details on him on CWGC, where you will find more family details.  Plus click into the cemetery (in red) to view more details:
