Can you give me more information about your Wilsons - it's a very common  name.

Further to our correspondence.
I found out recently that James Wilson's father, John married Catrine Tait in the parish of Anwoth on Dec 21 1752.
They had 2 children baptised in the parish of Dalry :-
James 25 Oct 1758 Cullmark
Janet.    6 Feb 1760 Fingland

Also, in the Parish of Kells :-
James 11 Oct 1765 Garrary
Agnes.   3 Oct 1768 Markland
Robert. 17 Dec 1772 Markland
David.      1 Mar 1776 Markland

Any pauper burials would not be included in the Graveyard Inscriptions.  As Gadget says you may find a mention in the kirk session records

I do have the Kells MIs but they are not easily to hand. Also, it would be unlikely that you would find all/any of them in there.

They would be in either the Kirk Sessions or the burial records themselves in Edinburgh,locally or via SP (££££s)

Found records for Kells parish poor relief in minute book 1845-1866.
Reckon that John Wilson died between June 1849 and February 1850. Also found that he worked as a barker on the Earlstoun estate in June 1849. His wife, Ann started to receive poor relief from February 1850 as a widow. Still unable to find any trace of John's death. He died at age 43, following the potato famine!
