Oh dear...I'm such a doofus. John and Elizabeth's marriage comes up if I search under McLellan (instead of the Maclellan indicated on his children's births and the children's surnames). I usually check under alternate surnames but this time I already assumed I had.

Did Elizabeth die in Queensland?  If so, I believe that the answer is 'yes'.

If John & Elizabeth married in Scotland, one would expect the marriage to appear in the IGI - but I don't see it.

Thanks JAP. I could only find possible matches for a marriage between Elizabeth Muir and John (surname wouldn't work). It is possible this is them, but not certain. I will have to apply for that death certificate.
