Hi Missyfirebird
Are you after a specific air base or just the RAF in general ;)

you will have to revise your date line as the Royal Air Force was not formed until 1st April 1918. Prior to this there was the Royal flying Corps which was formed on 13th May 1912 and lasted til the formation of the Royal Air Force and the Royal Naval Air Service was formed on 13th April 1912 and was offically recognised on 1st July 1914 this also lasted til the formation of the Royal Air Force.

If you try GOOGLE or other search engine

Type in -

'RAF No 1 squadron'

change the number
e.g.'RAF No 5 squadron'
etc.

These were the initial squadrons of the RAF.

You will get some very interesting sites to follow  -

Hope this helps

Hi Missyfirebird,
the aircraft is a De Havilland DH9 and belonged to 27 Squadron RAF.

Here's a link to the RAF Museum Website (look half way down the list):
http://navigator.rafmuseum.org/results.do;jsessionid=58DE5ACCAD7632CBA77491F95DAC0427?view=detail&db=person&mode=1&id=23982

Here's the current 27 Squadron page:
http://www.raf.mod.uk/structure/27squadron.cfm
(Good old Chinooks!  I used to serve on them - but not 27 Sqn.)

Here's a brief history of the DH9:
http://www.militaryfactory.com/aircraft/detail.asp?aircraft_id=290

I would contact the RAF Museum at Hendon as it looks like they might have a bit more information.

Good Luck
