Hi
I am hoping someone can give me some advice.
I have on the 1901 census Florence Taylor, born in 1888 in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland, England. She is living in Bishopwearmouth St Thomas, Sunderland, Durham and is listed as grandaughter to Jonathan and Hannah Taylor.
Her parents are listed as William and Elizabeth Douglass (nee Taylor)
Elizabeth is Jonathan and Hannah's daughter.
I have the family through from when Jonathan and Hannah married in 1860, but it's not until the 1901 census that there is a mention of Florence.
I have the other grandchildren of Jonathan and Hannah, with the exception of their son William, b1869, but he was living at home on the 1891 census with his parents. There is no Florence I can find.
Elizabeth married William Douglass in 1892. So if Florence is hers she would have only been 17 and unmarried when she had her, and there is no Florence with her on the 1891 census.
I have tried to find Florence previous to 1901 but am not having much luck.
I am also looking for a Florence (Taylor) who would have been the daughter of Jonathan and Hannah Taylor, but she doesn't appear to be on any census with the family. All I have is Florence, listed as grandaughter.
Could this be the same Florence, listed wrongly? Jonathan and Hannah's last child I have was born 1873, could she, or would she have gone on to have another child with a huge gap in 1888, she would have been about 45 by then, or could the year be wrong?
I have lots of questions but not many answers and there appears to be a selection of Florence Taylors who were born around the 1888 mark in Newcastle.
Would really appreciate any advice or opinions on this one as it's kinda stumping me a bit
