Hi Louise, The Essex PRs are kept at the Essex Records Office, in Chelmsford, Essex, they have a web site, if you do a search For Essex Records Office it's easy to find.  I believe there are the odd one or two which are still with the relevant churches but the ERO have most of them.
I have an Essex Richardson line, let me know the name, time frame and location of yours and I'll see if I have anything to help.  :)
Concentrating currently on:
Essex: Card, Harris, Stowell, Theobald/Tibbles & Turner.
Norfolk: Beale, Cork & Dalton.
Yorkshire: Oswald Sturdy birth/baptism c1708, Oswald where the devil are you?

I have a Jane Richardson. On the census sometimes it says she was from Chelmsford other times Ongar? Are they nearby. She would have been born 1831. She married Johann Plitsch from Germany in Newark  may 20, 1851. Her father was William Richardson, labourer. I haven't tried to trace her yet.

From memory, Ongar is about 10 miles from Chelmsford.  My Richardson line peters out in 1759 when my ancestor Elizabeth Richardson married Joseph Willus (Willis) at Gt Waltham, Essex, her parents married at Good Easter, Essex.
So I have no research on Richardson later than 1759, also any Richardsons I found who are not of my line are also dated early to mid 1700s, sorry I can't be of help.

Hi,
Thanks Malcolm for the plug - site is http://kevw.net/SelectEvery.htm

Here is a question for you all, not necessarily genealogy related.
My daughter and 23 other youth are off to Kenya in a years time ( a bunch of Scouts, Guides and Christian Youth etc). As part of the fundraising to pay for the project (not their air fares etc,), I thought I might do a 2 day stint at the Hornchurch [Essex] town show in August, take along a couple of computers (up to 6), and let people have a go at searching their ancestry  from the resources I can provide. This would be without an internet connection, so would rely on 1841, 1861 , 1881 and the stuff I could get into a local database (eg much of what I have on my site).
The burning question is == do you think that people would be interested? Would people make a small donation for the shared information? Is it a good / bad idea ??
I would appreciate any feedback on this, as I am used to having a host of resources available at a touch of a button, and I am probably very spoilt.
Best

hi Kev,
I wonder if a new seperate thread for this message would be good idea?

yes i think its a good idea, you could end up enrolling loads of people for the rootschat site while your at it! ;)

Only thing is, like you say, you wouldnt be able to do instant look-up online UNLESS you involve the council and use their offices / hall - might be worth getting them involved, get lots of coverage from the town.Do they have their own family history group? might be worth contacting them.

But whatever happens, i think contact the local radio etc and get seen and heard.that way, you'll enjoy it too, gets lots of response And hopefully lots of £££££ too.
I'm considering donating via your  site.

What are the group going to Kenya for? will they be helping/working with the Kenyans ?

Hi Jaq,
Here is our flyer for Sainsbury - this is in 9  days time - I'm a busy person.
In July 2005 a team of 24 young people and 8 adults from Hornchurch will visit Kenya.  They will be helping to build two childrens’ centres, for young Kenyans (under 18), who have no parents, or family to care for them.

The Hornchurch young people are Senior Section Guides, Explorer Scouts and Saltire members – all Hornchurch Youth groups, sponsored by St Andrew’s Church.  The team will be working alongside young Kenyans to complete these building projects.

To make this happen we need help towards project costs.  Our target is £20,000 (not including air fares and other personal expenses which the team members are providing) – we would be grateful for any support you can give.  Your donations can also be gift aided (if you are a UK taxpayer we can get an extra 28p for every £1).

Other donations, e.g. goods that we can resell for our funds, or as raffle prizes at our many fundraising events are welcome too, from businesses and individuals alike.

Please help us to help those less fortunate than we are.

Yes, you are right, a separate thread may be a good idea. More to follow.
Best
