3x gt grandmother Jean Drummond b 1811, Appin, married Hugh McColl.
Later lived in Rothesay where they both died.
Anyone with further information on Jean Drummond's ancestry ?

Betty - thank you very much for that.
Those do seem to be some of their children; missing is my gt grandfather Daniel b 1840, his brother John b1847 and brother Hugh b circa 1857.
The trouble with the Scottish ancestors is that the same names keep cropping up, not only in our family but other McColl families - so confusing!
I have yet to find out Jean Drummond's ancestry.

A quick search of Scotland's People shows the following death

Death 1889 MCCOLL JEAN  (Maiden Name)  DRUMMOND  Aged 78 ROTHESAY /BUTE

This would fit with a birth year of 1811.

The cert will have both her parents names on it so is worth investing in some credits at Scotland's People to see.

Caroline, I hope you're still out there and read this! I'm also emailing you at the address you gave me some yrs ago when we corresponded on the Appin Hist Soc site. I can tell you a nice lot about several of the other children of Robt Dr and Janet McIntyre, now that I know who Jean is descended from, from her death cert which I just bought from scotlandspeople. She wasn't baptised, and I suspect she had several siblings who weren't baptised either. BUT several were and I've researched them extensively.
