Changing Text size & Font
« on: Sunday 26 August 07 16:47 BST (UK) »
I can use the BBC tags in my messages, bold, italic, etc, & I can change the colour, but for some reason I can't change the text size or the font.

All I'm offered is 10pt Verdana.

What am I doing wrong please.

Betty

Test to see if I can do the moving text!!

Hi Betty, I'm no techie but...

Font size is the capital A with the uppy downie arrow next to last on top row if you click on it it says 10pt all you have to do is change the 10 to something else, this was 12 - to change colour click the downward pointing arrow next to change colour and it should give a list of options - just make sure your written text is beween the ][ thingies.... I think you are clicking on the fuzzy looking red capital A, not sure what that does lets have a go ???

Oh! it does this - in my case nothing it seems, I'll have another go

I think I've got the hang of text size. I was expecting a drop-down list of sizes, as in e-mail programs, I didn't realise the typed number had to be changed.
Hopefully this will be 14pt

How do I change the font?

Betty

Oh goody, it works ;D That size is much better for my poor old eyes ;D

Suey, Verdana is the name of the font (style of typeface/print)
There are hundreds of fonts on the internet, just google Fonts & see what you get! You can download them, (many are free) & use them in your Word documents, which has quite a few already installed.

If the red A doesn't change the font, what does it do?

Betty

The font determines the shape of the letters that you are using.  I have changed it to Comis Sans MS for this post but I haven't tried this before

Using the same method as changing text sizes, I've changed Verdana to Comic Sans to see what I get
Now Ariel
Now Verdana
Now Times New Roman

ooohhh this is fun, I think I've got it ;D
Thanks, suey, for the tip about changing the number by typing in.
I wonder how many fonts it works with ;D

Betty

This is Black Chancery
This is Font Boulder

This is Calligrapher
This is Igloocaps

Yep, typing in the font name works ;D ;D ;D
