Hi all, I wonder if anyone has access to 'The National Roll of The Great War - Luton & District' & could do a look-up for me please.
I'm after a George (Herbert) Day & his father George (William) Day. George H would be about 26 years old in 1914 & George W about 49. I'm hoping there might be a reference to them as civilians, as I cannot find any record of either George in the services (George W was probably too old).
I know it's a long shot, but as I cannot pinpoint any death entries for them, especially George W, I need a bit of luck. The family were originally from Barrow-in-Furness, but I'm not sure when they moved to Luton. They are not at Stockingstone Rd before the war & only Alice plus her son-in-law are there afterwards. Really need to find info on George H, who I've only recently discovered is my grandad.
What info I do know about the family in Luton is from the CWGC, shortened details are: Lance Corporal PERCY WILKINSON DAY who died age 22 on 13 October 1915 and Private F DAY who died age 22 on 28 August 1918. Next of kin: Alice Day, of 9 Stockingstone Rd, Luton, and the late George William Day.
All help & advice gratefully received. Regards, TonyR.
