Readings family
« on: Thursday 30 August 07 19:28 BST (UK) »
I am seeking information on the parents and siblings etc. of Ann Readings, who was born c1823.  She married a John Clarke in 1845 and the 1871 & 1881 census records give her place of birth as Odiham.

If anyone has any information on Ann I would be grateful for their assistance.

I guess you don't have her father's name from the marriage certificate?

I can find a Reading family - parents Thomas and Mary - whose children were baptised in Odiham around the 1820s.  But none of them is Ann  :(

Unfortunately not - I have her in the 1861 census

1861 census:
St Marys, Paddington. Marylebone.
John Clark       Head        age 41             Odiham,   Porter
Ann     "           Wife            "   38   Oakley, Hampshire
John   "             Son             " 14   Paddington, Middlesex
Sarah  "            Dau            "   5   Paddington, Middlesex
James  "            Son             "  2   Paddington, Middlesex

Federick Smith...b 1816...Marylebone,middlesex...lodger.

Interstingly her birth place is given as Oakley rather than Odiham - I assume that this is just a typographical error.

There is an Oakley in Hampshire - it's the other side of Basingstoke from Odiham, the parish would have been Church Oakley at that time.

Still can't see anything likely.  :(
