Dinah Bilcher Hall, born circa 1866 @ Kent
« on: Monday 03 September 07 12:53 BST (UK) »
Hi

Found the above in 1871 census @ Auchindoir, Aberdeenshire (aged 5 years, birthplace as above) with grandparents William Sinclair/Christian Esslement and in 1881 census, she was @ Grant Street, Old Machar, Aberdeenshire with aunt Ann Williamson and cousins (birthplace England)

Dinah died shortly after census and certificate has parentage as Unknown Hall/Christina (Christian) Sinclair

Would appreciate further birth details.....

Thank you

Hi Ysabeau

This is a strange one :-\

Do you know the significance of the name "BILCHER"?  Could it be a Scottish connection?  I've never come across it in Kent before so wondering if it could be a mistranscription/pronounciation of something else - say PILCHER?

i looked in the complete BMD there were no Dinah Hall, Bilcher, Pilcher or Sinclair born 1866/67
in 1865 there were 4 Dinah Halls born, 1 in each qtr,  but none in Kent
in 1865 there was a Dinah Bilcher but she was b. in Hartlepool (Q2)
1865 - 0 Dinah Pilcher
and likewise with Dinah Sinclair.
there was a female Sinclair b. 1865 but this was Doncaster (Q4)

hope this helps Toni

Probably a complete red herring, but the IGI has a christening of a

Dinah Bilcher
7 Jun 1865
Durham
parents Sidney and Christiana

(Unusual surnamr Bilcher, plus unusual christian name Dinah, plus unusual mums christian name Christiana - thought it a coicindence to have the same combination)
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Quote
Dinah Bilcher

That looks as if it could be quite promising - doesn't it?

Perhaps "Kent" should be something else in the census transcription :-\

Good morning...

Thank you for all your help, much, much appreciated.

I last "found" Christina/Christian Sinclair (born 1836) in 1851 census @ Auchindoir and it wasn't until I found her daughter Dinah in 1871/1881 census that I even knew that Christina/Christian was "live and kicking" after 1855.

Double-checked the death certificate (maximum magnification) and have deciphered the word "guardian" after John Williamson (her uncle-in-law) who registerd the death.

Thank you all again for trying
