Griffiths-Welsh Corporal
« on: Wednesday 05 September 07 15:51 BST (UK) »
Hi all, I was wondering if somebody could help me trace a soldier from Wales, my g g grandfather Thomas James Griffiths. He was born to parents Edward and Elizabeth (maiden name unknown)
At the time of his marriage in 1897 to Caroline Wertheim, he is a Corporal in the South Wales Borderers.
Here's the lead I have on him...he and Catherine had a daughter in 1900, and they called her Tugela. I know what an unusual name that is, and so I did SOME research, and found out there is a Tugela River that was the scene of a battle in the Boer War.

If anyone has any info on medals, or where Thomas served, I'd be very grateful.

Matt :)

The South Wales Borderers Museum is in Brecon.

They may have some information or know of possible sources.
