Where can I see Fiche/Microfilm of Old Irish Newspapers?
« on: Wednesday 05 September 07 21:03 BST (UK) »
I was wondering if anyone knows if there is anywhere on line to get/look at old back copies of Irish newspapers. Or, even purchase CD's.

I'm looking for the Derry Journal.

I asked the Toronto Reference Libray if they held any fiche or microfilm for this newspaper but they said not. I have been given part of a copy of a description of a funeral and it lists a whole bunch of my relatives and their relationship to the deceased. Apparently there is more to the article but I haven't been able to find anywhere in Canada to get a copy.

Well ;D I guess I could fly to Ireland but...  :P

Any help or any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try Derry Central Library- if they have the paper on microfilm they will probably make copies for you. E-mail them (address on page) and if they can't help post back here.

P.S.- hopefully you have the date of the paper.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Another place you might try is the Derry Journal themselves. They also have a section for "Looking for family".
