Stokesley Birth 1787-1789

Hi

I am trying to find any information about the birth of Thomas Ward, born Stokesley. Various census from 1841 to 1871, list birth dates from 1785 to 1789 , but mostly 1788, with the birth place always shown to be Stokesley.

Thomas married Elizabeth Plewas (Plewes), Jan 1816 in Balk (Bagby) near Thirsk and remained there until his death, March 1873.

Thomas Ward born about 1783, Stokesay, Shropshire, England
Married Mary Price, 29 SEP 1808 (and 1806 on a nother!  :-\) Stokesay, Shropshire, England

Thomas Ward born  18 SEP 1788   Stokesay, Shropshire, England
Mother Mary Ward

Any good?

Having looked at the original post, it looks unlikely - wrong end of the country completely! OOPS!  ::)


Will look again ... but nothing for Stokesley came up.  :-[

According to GenUKi ...
3.7 miles ESE NZ582064 of Stokesley is Ingleby Greenhow, North Riding, Yorks

I think this HAS to be your man.

Unfortunately, no parents are named.  :-[

But then just to confuse matters, there is a Thomas Ward born ...

About 1786   Of Balk, , Yorkshire, England

who then marries ...

About 1811   Of Balk, , Yorkshire, England [/b]

No other details are given. Just thought I'd add this, since your man marries in Balk, albeit at a later date.

I think the Christening:
THOMAS WARD 08 APR 1788   Of, Ingleby Greenhow, Yorkshire, England is a distinct possibility.  :) :)

It's a pity parents are not listed  >:(, but at least I have something to follow up

Hi All

I have looked at the IGI for Christening:
THOMAS WARD 08 APR 1788   Of, Ingleby Greenhow, Yorkshire, England and then at the file details and this says:

'Baptisms for the dead, 1877-1944; heir indexes, 1877-1956'. I am not sure what this means, since a record on the IGI shows Thomas Ward to die March 1873    ??? ???

Can anyone explain what type of record this is, which may me decide if I have got the correct Thomas Ward
