1851 Census - completed, with thanks
« on: Monday 10 September 07 18:21 BST (UK) »
Hallo there,
Need a new pair of eyes.

Looking for Jeremia(h) and Bridget Sullivan in parish of Newcastle.
They should be there in 1851 as the oldest two children were born in Galmorgan.

Found them in 1861 Census: RG9, 4078, 30, 54
Jeremia (1826) Ireland,
Bridget (1833) Ireland (although they have her age as 20)
John (1848) Newcastle, Glam
Mary (1850) Aberdare
Jaremin (probably Jeremia), (1856), Newcastle
James, (1853) Cardiff (my ancestor)
Daniel (1860) Newcastle, Glam
(and a few boarders!)

Would be pleased if someone could find them.
Thank you,
Vivien

 :) :) :) Thanks Tricia.

A very, very good candidate - pity that they never really knew how old they were in those days.

And that the people copying the census have so much trouble reading the writing.  I must say, I do a lot of the time too.   I had tried a lot of variations of the forenames, never thinking about the last name although I read about the "changes" of names between census and transcription.  Going to have think much more widespread.

Thanks again.

Vivien

I picked this up by just using

Mary 1850 Aberdare

and with 'Bridget' under mother's name

It was the 1st on the list

Tricia :)

Tricia  ::)

- another mystery you might be able to help me with. Can't find James Sullivan in the 1871 census.

Tried your method of just forename, age and parents - no luck.  He should be around somewhere as he married in 1877 in Monmouthshire.

You might have more luck.
