Search rootschat
« on: Tuesday 11 September 07 00:06 BST (UK) »
Would it be rude of me to suggest that each "room" should have a search this forum option rather than the advanced search options on search rootschat or at least an unselect all button?

If you try to search for the surname Smith, which I did tonight, you quickly lose the will to live - try it and tell me I'm wrong!

Each county should be individually searchable and then we can track through any movements by a general site search.

David

Hi David

Just a suggestion that you may/may not have tried already, enter in your search name and the county that you require. This is how I have looked for my Smiths. It may encourage your will to live.

Regards

As far as I can see every option is preselected and I have to untick them all individually - obviously I'm missing something basic!

Hi oberon,

At the bottom of the page you will see a Check All

Click on that and nothing will be selected - All ticks ticks will vanish. Now select the board of your choice.

Good Luck..............Kris   :D

Hi David

Sorry I should have explained. One of those cases that I know what I mean but forget to explain. Just enter into your search rootschat and enter in to the first window rather than go into your advanced search. I found this a simpler way to find what I was looking for provided though that the posts have the county mentioned in the threads.

regards

Hi oberon,

The way I do it is:

Top of the page, centre in Big Letters Click on Search RootsChat

Click on Advanced Search

On left Search For term such as Smith leave by user blank

Now go to Bottom of Page on Left Click on Check all (This will remove all the ticks which are set as default)

Go through the list of boards and Click to Select boards of your choice

Bottom of page on left Click Search

Cheers Kris  :D

My point - exactly. The check all is a design fault and should be at the top of the pagerather than the bottom.

Why not have a county forum search facility?
