Whittlesey St. Andrews or St. Marys
« on: Wednesday 12 September 07 04:03 BST (UK) »
Hi All,
Is anybody researching  either of the above Parishes,at this time??
William and Susan Jackson seemed to have used  both Parishes when having their children baptised.
1812 Wm. at St. Marys
1814 Isaac       "
1823 James      "
1817 Mary,and 1820 Ann,at St. Andrews.
The Film # 2358115
Hoping to find maiden name of mother.
Just thought I'd ask since our LDS Library in the area is closed for the next week.
ANYBODY?????

As it's unlikely that baptism entries will give the mother's maiden name, you'll need to find the marriage. Try posting a request for a look up in Boyds Marriage Index

Thanks David,
Boyd's Index states William Jackson married Susan Butters,
in Elm.
What certificate would? indicate maiden name of mother?
Marriage in Upwell,of two of their children,in 1838,only indicates William,as father.

So you're trying to prove that the marriage in Elm is the same couple baptising children in Whittlesey?

Pre 1837 the last time that the maiden name is usually recorded is on marriage. Childrens' baptism entries generally didn't show the maiden name, although it would be worth checking on the offchance that the vicar was super helpful (nearby Chatteris gave the name for a while). And when the children married, assuming after 1837, only the father's name was shown (before 1837 you didn't either parent's name)

Your best bet is still to check the Elm register to see if William's residence was given as Whittlesey

Regards

David
