Mr John Longton Lowe
« on: Wednesday 19 September 07 08:40 BST (UK) »
Mr Lowe was born in Chester in about 1865.
He moved to Watermillock in the Lake District to be the school master.
He had a wife called Charlotte and children Gertrude and John.
They seemed to spend time in Wales before moving to the Lake District but I do not know where they went when they left Watermillock.

I do not know much about Mr Lowe.
I am trying to find out why he went to Watermillock and where he went to next this will help me piece together the life of another Mr Lowe who I think could be related to him.

He is still in Watermillock on the 1901 Census:
RG13/4856 Folio97 Page9, The Schoolhouse.

Are you asking for information after this point ???

According to "Kelly's Directory of Cumberland & Westmorland, 1914" John Longton Lowe is Master of Cotehill (mixed) Public Elementary School.

Does that help ;)

If it's any help, this message on Rootsweb:
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/CHESHIRE/1998-09/0906490766

states his daughter Getrude married from the  Parish Church,
Cotehill and Cumwhinton Cumberland on 3 Jun 1922.

Cheers

John Longton Lowe was my grandfather's cousin.  His family came from Chester and his wife, Charlotte, from Mold in Flintshire. They had five children in all, of whom two are recorded as having died in the 1911 census.  John Frederick was the eldest, Gertrude (whose family later emigrated to Canada) and Eric.  John Longton died in 1932.
