There is a Rathmullan on the shores of Lough Swilly on the Fanad  Peninsula in Killygarvan parish.

There's also a Rathmullan parish in Co. Down.

Griffiths Valuation extracts on John Hayes failteromhat.com site shows several McGarveys in the parish of Killygarvan but only one in Rathmullan ...

Rosanna McGarvey, Rathmullan and Ballyboe, Rathmullan, Killygarvan. Donegal. The Valuation took place in the county in 1857.

Hi Jilly, You may find these links useful-

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~bhilchey/MKillygarvan.html

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~donegal/rathmullbirths.htm

Using the last link, if you scroll down and take note of the 3 McGarvey births, and take note of the parents names.  Then use these parents names on the I.G.I. to get more names of children for James and Sarah, then Samuel and Catherine.
I didn't need to use the mothers maiden name in the searches , just their christian names.

Thanks for your help, I had someone staying with me and like myself she also is of Irish origin, I just put the surname in to show her how helpful you all were with your replies.
When she gets home she cannot wait to get started.
Thanks
J
