It looks as if you know far more than I do, the only information that I can pass on is from his obituary. It would seem that he was born sometime in 1832 and came from Surrey. When in Australia they had a mail contract and ran coaches like Cobb and Co. Pictures of the family from that time are available from the Scone historical society.

I also note that in 1868 John VIGORS of Jerry Plains held the contract for the postal line 'Singleton and Jerry's Plains via Cockfighter's Creek and in time of flood via Thorley's' . Run was three times a week on horseback for which he was paid £60.0.0 pa.
