Lookup request please - 1841 census - Daniel Martin
« on: Sunday 19 December 04 21:51 GMT (UK) »
I would like to make a lookup request, please, in the 1841 census for Daniel Martin.

Daniel was born in the period 1818 - 1823 (census records vary over time!) in Sileby.

In 1841, he may have been in Sileby.  He may also have been in Leicester in 1841, because BY 1851 he was certainly in Leicester.

Any information regarding other members of the household - parents & siblings welcome.

Thank you - and Merry Christmas.
I am sorry but my email address is not working.

MARTIN - Leicester

PILMORE/PILLMORE - Teigh, Rutland

Many thanks for your input to the 'mystery', Mike.

I HAVE confirmed 'the' Daniel Martin I am researching was married to Mary Wilkinson in St Margaret's in 1851 and his father is listed as John Martin (labourer).  (Thanks to Linda for that piece of information.)

BUT:
Age in 1851 marriage registration:- 28 (birth year 1823)

Age in 1861 census (Leicester):- 38 (birth year 1823).  Family details for this entry are otherwise correct, so I have the 'correct' Daniel.

Age in 1881 census:- 60 (birth year 1821).  Again, family details for this entry are otherwise correct.

Given the "uncertainty" in birth details, it's POSSIBLE the baptism in 1818 fits, given the father's name (John).  (Maybe not!  If there's a small multitude of Daniel Martins, how many John Martins are there?!)

With the lack of a John Martin (labourer) as well as Daniel in the 1841 Sileby census information that you have provided, it's looking entirely possible that the family had relocated from Sileby to Leicester (possibly Savney Gate - that is the address given in 1851) by the 1841 census and that's where I may be able to pick up the thread.

Merry Christmas!

I notice you have an interest in Pilmore in Teigh.  My husband's ancestor was Lucy Pilmore b. 1794, daughter of John & Bridget.  Do you have a connection with her?
Would be interested to hear from you, Louise Norton
Desperately seeking:
Martha Ann Keily - Limerick/Woolwich mid 1800s
Mary Jane Hawkins - Bridgwater c.1835
George Gulson - Warmfield or Mansfield 1790s

To be honest, I haven't drilled back that far with the Pilmores, Louise!

I have Robert Pillmore (sic), age 41, in Teigh in 1881.

Lucy, John & Bridget may fit in - I'll keep your "clue".
