When was George St demolished as I have it on my route finder and its only a couple of years old ??? ???

There's still apiece of road with that name http://tinyurl.com/yt4csk - but not a house in sight.  I think the Recycling Centre has been down Gt Northern Terrace for many (>15) years, so the houses would have been cleared before that.
Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened.

Hello GeoffE
Thanks for your reply---it's sad that George street has been demolished, but you've saved me a trip to Lincoln to see it--thankyou.
If you find any photo's they would be much appreciated, it helps to have something visual instead of just dates. Also, any details make our ancestors much more interesting---thanks again.

Regards

Alan

I wonder when that signal box was built?  Old maps show a signal box to the north of the station, close to the goods yard.

Hi Tesu

Scopwick Station 1870/1890s, signal box can be seen in the distance, before it was moved nearer the crossing gates

Hi Tesu

Scopwick Station 1870/1890s

The line from Ruskington to Lincoln opened 1 Aug 1882, so anyone there before that would have had a long wait! :D
