Hi Maria

Familyhistoryonline(Somerset Marriage Index) has a Henry Banwell marrying Ann Brown in Banwell 2 April 1833, but no other Henry Banwell marriage

hi steve
no thats not him, but thanks for looking,
i did find a marriage in bristol, st philips, do you think they went there? as henry was a bit older than elizabeth as she could be too young to marry , would have been 16 years old when she had philip.
thanks

Until 1929 the legal age for marriage for a girl was 12 and 14 for a boy. The 1929 Age of Marriage Act made all marriages void from 10 May 1929, if either partner was under the age of 16.

The legal age for marriage remained at 14 for boys and 12 for girls in the Republic of Ireland, until 1st January 1975, when it was raised to 16.

Otp (of this parish) implies residence, but it could be as little as 3 weeks. I've several ancestors from Somerset & Gloucestershire who married in Bristol and were always Otp
