Can anyone help me find Simon Martindale
« on: Wednesday 26 September 07 23:49 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone,

I am trying to find the birth of my husbands gt. grandfather Simon Martindale. He was born in

Liverpool about 1871. His father was William Martindale, occupation Boatman. I have Simon on the

1901 census with his wife Mary and daughter Mary C Martindale. His occupation is a marine fireman.

Between 1917 and 1918 he was in New York as a fireman on board the Belgio and the Baltic. I can't

find anything else. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Michelle

as you can see there is a big gap between the children and I was wondering if this is the family (different wife) - same area but age is out.

1861

?field St
William Martindale 38 yrs married boatman
Sarah 29 yrs
John 8 yrs
William 2 yrs
Elizabeth 1 week
all born Liverpool

(There are now 2 Johns in the family if this is the same one)

A couple of doors away is John Martindale 49 yrs fisherman

1881 RG11; Piece: 3612; Folio: 35; Page: 17
46 Plumbe Street
William 55 yrs boatman
Mary E 18 yrs daughter

Just found this one though

1871 RG10; Piece: 3773; Folio: 10; Page: 14

46 Plumbe Street (writing again - not too good)
William 45 yrs boatman employing 2 men
Mary A wife and 3 daughters.
all born Liverpool

as you can see - no suitable son to this family

The Martindales seem to have connections with boats/ fishing etc

not much help really - suitable yet not so.

Thanks very much for the information you have found.

It looks like I'm going to have to make a trip to the Liverpool records office in the near future  ???,

work permitting  :-\.
