William Henry Baldwin c1856 - completed
« on: Monday 20 December 04 21:32 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for information that anybody might have on my 2 x gr grandfather William Henry Baldwin.  I think he was born 1856 in Shoreditch to another William Henry Baldwin (no further details for him).

I do know that William (jnr) married a Jane Elizabeth Turner on 30 Sept 1883 at Shoreditch.  According to 1881 and 1901 census they had 7 children, Henry James 1886, Frederick Charles 1889, Herbert 1892, Reuben Leonard 1893 (my Gr grandfather) and his twin Sidney George, Alfred 1894 and Victoria 1900.

By 1890 the family moved to Hackney and William worked as a Warehouse man in a Tea Warehouse presumably on the Thames.

If anybody has any information about William or his father I would be extremely grateful.  Thank you. :-\ :-\ :-\

Do you have an address for your William Henry BALDWIN on his marriage certificate 1883?  Witnesses?

There is a William H BALDWIN lodging at 41 Basing Street, Shoreditch 1881 census age 27 unmarried, pockit bk maker b.Birmingham Warwickshire.  It doesn't tie in with his given birthplaces of Hoxton and Shoreditch on the other census though.  What do you think?

Hi

The address on the marriage cert is 4a Bristowe Street, Shoreditch which is also the address for Jane (his wife)'s parents James and Emma.  So no it probably doesn't tie in.

Rick

That certainly looks like a possibility and worth further investigation.  Thank you.

I have some BALDWINs in collateral lines from CURTIS.  I think there might be a William Henry among them.  Will need to check through my files to see, but send me a private message to remind me and I will get back to you

For all those who have ever helped me in my long search for my 2 x great grandfather William Baldwin I just have to share with you.

I HAVE FOUND HIM  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have been searching the LMA records on Ancestry all day for various records and decided to have a go at finding him.

He was actually baptised 1854 so two years before that which I believed but the parents are correct as is father's occupation and the address is where grandparents were living.  Also managed to find some other children who don't occur on census records.  He was baptised William James not William Henry but I am sure it is him.  I'll now try to find the birth certificate just to prove it.

I am happy, happy, happy  ;D ;D ;D ;D
