thomas swankie - peterhead to USA

thomas swankie was born 24 july 1905 at peterhead. he married marietta fischer in 1929 in new york .
i have looked at ellis island to find out when he emigrated but can't find him. could someone suggest where i might search next.

The index of findmypast (www.ancestorsonboard.com) shows a Thomas Swankie aged 19 leaving from Glasgow in 1925 bound for New York.
