Where was it, when it closed or has it changed it's name? Why Sawyer's Arms was there a saw mill in Blewbury? Any help will be welcome

From http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/pda/A26179239?s_id=4&s_split=2

"In living memory there used to be five pubs in Blewbury. Now that the Blewbury Inn (formerly the New Inn) has reverted to being a private house, and the Sawyers Arms was decades ago demolished and replaced with a set-back dwelling, Blewbury is left with only three. "

There's a photo on www.blewbury.co.uk

Hi,
I am new and have just found this.  It is interesting to me because my parents (Tom & Nora Deacon) were licensees of the Sawyers Arms in Blewbury between 1957-1963! I think they were the last licensees to have run the pub befor it was demolished, I remember there was a bungalow built on the site and it is called The Sawyers.
I hope that helps you.
Carrie

That is very interesting Carrie 48 You can see the very little I eventually found about the "house" together with a photograph  here:
http://www.mcmullin.plus.com/pub%20berk.html
You will find the Froud family had an interest in several Berkshire pubs many moons ago. I find publicans are one of the most interesting group to research as there is usually some historical evidence of the pub and its role in the community.
Welcome to Rootschat I am sure you will find plenty here to interest you. :)
