Hodgson/McLeod - Bootle area
« on: Tuesday 02 October 07 22:32 BST (UK) »
Hi to all.  We have been unsuccessful in finding a record of marriage between an Edward George Hodgson, and a Sarah McLeod. (our grandparents)
We do know they were living in Bootle - 1900 - 1905. This we know via birth certificates for our mother, and an aunt. At that time g'pa was a ships steward; and later a ships butcher.
G'pa died in 1905 , age 37 (we have certificate)
We have located an E.G. Hodgson b. 1867    Anglesey, Wales
We have located a Sarah McLeod b. 1870  Bracadale , Isle of Skye, Scotland
These two people are the only ones, we have found, that fit the time criteria.
BUT WE ARE NOT CERTAIN THEY ARE WHO WE WANT THEM TO BE. as we have not as yet acquired a marriage certificate - that would probably confirm our suspicions. (we hope)
They were probably Presbyterian we also do not know where they are buried. or if g'ma re-married after 1905 (by 1905 the Skye -McLeod family had relocated to Greenock, Scotland)
We welcome any suggestions  thanks   peter in Montreal
