can any kind soul please help     i am trying to find a marrige for a catherine muckalt to a joesph briscoe i have no dates or where they were born but do known that they had a son john in 1910 born in sedberg

Hi Anita

Is there a known link to a place in Lancashire?  The only Sedberg(h) I know is in what was Westmorland, now part of Cumbria.  Maybe you know one I don't.

I have access to films of BT's for most of Westmorland in Cumbia, but I'm not sure what date they go up to.  There may also be entries for where they were living in directories.

Do you know where they were in 1901?

Have you posted this to Westmorland too?  If not it might be worth it.

yes

 it was cumbria where my grandad was born john.
i have no idea were they where in 1901 but know that in 1910 they was in sedberg. i known that joesph was a water baliff but dont known much else

There are quite a few Muckalts and a couple of Briscoes on the Lancashire Online Parish Clerks database under the Warton St Oswalds list (Warton is about 20 miles from Sedbergh)
No Catherines or Josephs though  .

Further to that, there is a Joe or Jos Briscoe on 1901 census birthplace Whittington (Near Carnforth) listed as a visitor at a house on St Leonardsgate, Lancaster. Born 1861, occupation Joiner. Also there are William Briscoe age 15 and Amy or Anny Briscoe age 13.

I'm waiting for a certificate which is stuck in the postal strike - need stuff to do!!!
