Hi
I found a useful thread on this site regarding the tradition of naming children in order of (eg) first male after father's father, first female after mother's mother.
Can;t find the thread now - can anyone help?

Hi Paul
I posted on a thread about names - have found them very useful for tracking my family (especially in Scotland).
This was the thread (there may be others)

If you google "naming standards" or "naming patterns" you will get lots of references
