Hi Tricia

Welcome to Rootschat

Virtually all of Beds marriages and baptisms pre 1812 have been extracted onto the IGI, which you can check out yourself at www.familysearch.org.

You'll find three entries in 1809, two of which are member submissions which are usually unreliable, and the third is the extracted entry which you can rely on (in this case the members have actually got it right)

The parish register transcription adds no further detail to what's on the IGI

For what I would have thought was a unique name I'm surprised that there were two earlier baptisms in the nearby parishes of Meppershall in 1807 and Campton in 1774

You'll also find his parents' marriage in Southill in 1802 - the transcript describes his mother, Sarah Porter as being from Shefford, which was actually in the parish of Campton.

Hi David

Thank you for the welcome and for your reply. I did find the entry on the IGI and was unsure which one he was. I was hoping the actual record, would give a little more information. His death certificate for 1848 gives his age as 42 so he could be either one. I have not been able to find his marriage although I do have his wife's name. He was not with her in the 1841 census but I think I have him with his mother in Clifton.(miss transcribed as Grun) The mothers of both Warners were called Sarah, so as you can see I have a problem with ensuring I have the correct one.

regards
Tricia

What was his wife's name? I'll see if I can come at him from a different direction

In 1851 living in Shefford was Warner Green unmarried 41 a butcher born Stanford (a hamlet of Southill). So if your Warner died 1848 age 42 then he must have been the Meppershall one

Hi David

Thank you so much for that, so his parents were John and Sarah.
Warner married Mary Elizabeth Whitteridge, she was from Haynes born c1811.

regards

Odd that the marriage can't be found; nor can I find Mary's baptism.

The only marriage I can find was Warner Green/Mary Spencer in 1834 at Holborn St Andrew, and I can't find these in any census.

Did they have children?

Hi
The earliest birth I have is Sarah Elizabeth c1937 (from census
Then
George  c1839
Mary Ann c1842
Samuel 1845
Fanny Elizabeth c1848

I have the birth cert for Samuel b1845 in St Lukes born at 22 Pool Terrace. The family was still there when Warner died.
He was a policeman when Samuel was born and still a policeman at the time of his death.
As they were both from Bedfordshire I rather thought they would have married prior to moving to London.

I wonder if it is possible that the Warner Green/Mary Spenser marriage entry could be a transcribing error.
It seems strange that they could not be found on any census. I am able to follow Mary through another marriage and up to 1871 census.
