Hi Julie

I have a few possibilities for you to think about but it is so complicated because there are 3 families who seem to over lap.

I have been through nearly all of the parishes which boarder Bladon and beyond - nightmare! However in North Leigh - just up the road from Bladon (5 miles) there are loads of Brook(e)s. They include Charles John and Richard but to different parents so they may not be yours but it may help you?

Baptisms

Thomas 28 Aug 1772 s o Thomas & Sarah
John 24 Jan 1779 s o Edward & Anne
Richard 4 Oct 1781 s o Thomas & Sarah nee Groves
Richard 19 Oct 1783 s o Edward & Anne
Sara 20 Aug 1775 d o Thomas & Sarah
Sarah 18 Aug 1777 d o Thomas & Sarah
Groves 6 June 1779 s o Thomas & Sarah
Nancy 4 June 1780 d o Edward & Anne
Mary Ann 20 Sept 1795 d o Charles & Lucy nee King
Charles 25 Dec 1796 s o Charles & Lucy
Ann 27 Feb 1799 d o Charles & Lucy
Mary 24 May 1801 d o Charles & Lucy

So have a look at these and see if anything you have may link these to your tree and let me know?

Thanks so much for searching for me - it is much appreciated.

It's a shame that there does not appear to be a common set of parents (or even a father) for any Charles, Richard & John :(

Unfortunately my Charles Brooks was born circa 1776 so cannot be the one listed for 1796.

North Leigh does seem to be a good place to be looking though as it is very close to Witney. The search continues...

Thanks again

Julie
