Hi Asaph

Quote
Mary Kennard
Born 1810 Cranbrook Parents Richard Kennard and Ann Champs

Mary (wife of Stephen STANLEY married Cranbrook 1829) consistently gives her birthplace as Cranbrook (1851/1861/1871 census) yet the Mary Ann KENNARD (dau of Richard KENNARD and Ann CHAMPS) was baptised in Brenchley http://www.familysearch.org  Furthermore, there is no mention of the second name Ann for Mary (wife of Stephen STANLEY) in the census, marriage or baptisms of her children.  Can your friend be sure that Mary KENNARD, wife of Stephen STANLEY, was really the daughter of Richard KENNARD and Ann CHAMPS ???

There are several KENNARD graves in East Farleigh churchyard.

The Monumentals Inscriptions have been transcribed and are on the Kent Archaelogical Society website:

http://www.kentarchaeology.org.uk/Research/Libr/MIs/MIsEastFarleigh/01.htm

They may help you sort out the East Farleigh KENNARDS.  :D

Hi
Thanks for the suggestion will have a look at the website.

As far as I know the Mary Stanley was fairly well researched by a  distant family member of my friend.
Parish records etc.
But I will confirm this when I speak to my friend next.

Thanks again

I am also descended from George Manwaring and Mary Stanley through their  son George born Cootamundra 20/11/1858.
I never had a maiden name for Mary Stanley (wife of Stephen) but have followed the family forward via the Census records.
I was always under the impression that the Mary Kennard who married George
Meale was born 1810 Brenchley and she was the daughter of Richard Kennard and Ann Champs. I was sure the immigration records when they entered Australia Listed it that way (I will have to look that up again)
I would like to get in touch with your Friend to compare research.

In the East Farleigh records are the burials of David Kennard and his wife Sarah (nee Foster) it lists their children and they didn't have a Mary.
I Believe the Mary Kennard married to Stephen Stanley is Mary Kennard bap 28 June 1812 Cranbrook of William & Elizabeth this fits perfectly with her age and place of birth given in the census records.
