The 'Dooey' name, whilst not that common, was certainly in the area in the right timescale as Griffiths Valuation has four Dooey entries in Ballymena. Interestingly, one of these was an Andrew Dooey. Was Andrew not the name of the brother of Mary Logan (or Dooey), whose birth entry had a 'Fred Dooey' apparently scraped off?

IGI also has a number of Doey/Dooey entries in and around Ahoghill in the mid/late 1800's.

I thought it was another excellent programme and showed a side of family history research we haven't seen before.

I actually thought Graham Norton's reactions to the things he found were very positive - he didn't look at all bored, and seemed appreciative of the things the genealogists/researchers were showing him. His attitude was far more enthusiastic than some of the celebrities we've seen.

His own programme is aimed at a very different kind of audience - so presumably he had to be a bit flippant to keep his street-cred with them.

Having been brought up in Liverpool in the 1940s I remember well the religious divides in that city, so I also found that aspect fascinating. In fact I think I learned more about Irish history than I have done for a long time.

First major mistake I noticed was when it was said they found grandmother's(?) birthplace from her marriage lic.- instead of where she was living when she got married. I did enjoy the programme but also thought they skipped a bit quickly back through the Walker family based on the surname being unusual in that area.

I've never heard of him - but that mightn't be a disadvantage. It'll all be a surprise. I'm going to miss this when the series ends.

He's got four Olympic gold medals in rowing (1996-2004).  They've been running a trailer for the programme which reveals a major discovery they make about his ancestry, but I won't spoil it if you haven't seen it.  I'm going to miss the series too.

I haven't watched his own programme - or Father Ted - but I thought he came over as very likeable on WDYTYA - I like the celebrities who show some enthusiasm.
