Marriage Michael & Margaret Lay c. 1870

Could some kind soul help me locate the marriage certificate for Michael & Margaret Lay / Lee / Leahy

From the census' I have this information:

1891 Abertruth, Bedwelty

Michael Lee 40 widower Millwright in forge b. Tredegar
William Lee Son 19 unm Coal Miner b. Tredegar
John Lee Son 10 b. Blaina

1881

Michael Lay 32 b. C Cork Ireland Cinder Filler (Coke Oven)
Margaret Lay 29 b. C Cork
Mary Ann Lay Dau 11 Born Blaina Monmouth
Rachel Lay Dau 7 b. Tredegar Monmouth
William Lay Son 5 b. Tredegar Monmouth

I don't know where Michael and Margaret Lee / Lay (possible alternative  Leahy) were on the previous census returns.  Of course the 1881 / 91 returns above could refer to different families as the birth places for Michael and Margaret differ.

Grateful for any help.

This could be Margaret and youngest dau in 1871 below the 1881 census birthplace for margaret might be an error

If you notice Rees wife Mary and Margaret both are born in Llanelly Breconshire possibly sisters or related?

To confirm this is the correct marriage id send for one of the childrens birth certs to confirm mothers maiden name

That's brilliant - do we have a hit in Michael on the 1871 census?  Im keen to clarify whether or not he was born in Ireland.

So all points to the above info looking correct.When sending for a birth cert they usually will search over two years always state you only want the cert i.e in this case if Father is Michael and Mother Margaret.
Havent found Michael yet in 1871 so name is Lee and has been mistranscribed on the censuses he could be working away out of Wales?

If he did come from Ireland, then of course he may have been there popped back in 1871.  I have started a new thread on rying to trace his birth in Ireland.  Do you know how easy that will be?  I have no knowledge of Irish BMD.

Not easy at all.My Michael Lane came from Ireland to Llanelli Carms by 1841 and cant get back further  .Have tried for two years on that line and am stuck ,as Ireland was part of Britain there are no records of immigration etc.Id send for the marriage cert at least youll have his Fathers name and occupation.And possibly might hit lucky as your Michael was born a lot later  than mine so youll get a birth cert and if he came over to Britain with his parents you might hit lucky and  could look for them in the earlier censuses then
