Thompson & Pybus of Lythe
« on: Monday 15 October 07 07:44 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Looking for any information on what may of become of Richard Thompson born 1847 in Newcastle ,son of Moses Thompson of Lythe and his wife Jane, and his wife, Mary Ann Pybus born 1857 in Sandsend, daughter of Joseph Pybus and his wife, Hannah.
They had four children:
Joseph born 1879 in Sandsend
Alice born 1882 in Lythe
Richard born 1883 in Lythe
Jane born 1888 in Lythe.
Both parents are missing from the 1891 census and all four children are in Lythe workhouse as paupers.
By 1901 Richard is working as a farm hand in nearby Ellerby and Jane is in Whitby workhouse.
Can anybody find the death's of their parent's or what happened to Joseph or Alice by 1901,

Thanks
Sue

Hi Sue,

I suppose Alice may have married by 1901,  and this may be Mary Ann Thompson's death aged 53, June Qu 1899 Whitby 9d 300 .  If that's her and Richard had died earlier, wonder where she was on the census 1891? But it's a fairly common name so we'll check in Lythe graveyard anyway
